Born Helene Mazur in Caldwell, NJ, nicknamed "Cookie," she recorded under the stage name Tammy Lynn. Competing with the onslaught of teen girl singers in the early sixties (e.g. Linda Scott, Rosie Hamlin, Kathy Jean, Lesley Gore, Peggy March), Lynn recorded her own ballad "Why" b/w Walt Gollender's "Big And Bad," with only a four piece garage band backing. Nevertheless, the record was introduced by popular WABC New York DJ Bruce "Cousin Brucie" Morrow at a beauty pageant he hosted in Nutley, New Jersey and by NY dance show host Clay Cole (PIX/11). The record didn't make the national charts, but received regional popularity.

Tammy Lynn recorded a second single, "Just Whisper In My Ear" b/w "Heavenly Father." She was considered for record contracts with the latter era financially ailing Canadian-American records (Linda Scott and Santo & Johnny's label) as well as Vitomass, a production company owned by Four Seasons' alumnae Tommy De Vito and Nick Massi. Nothing solid materialized as both companies went belly up. Carlson International released the Bill Upham produced "Whisper In My Ear" (written by Jimmy Raccanelli) and the re-make of Edna McGriff's R&B 50's hit, "Heavenly Father." Despite some air play on breakout stations, the second release failed to score on the national charts
