THE ALCHEMY METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF HERBS
As far back as the dawn of humankind, beginning with the first communicative
human tribe, the Sumerians (about 25,000BCe, according to the World Almanac),
the belief that herbs, given from the earth and provided by Divinity, possessed
not only nutritive and medicinal properties, but also supernally empowered
properties that were part of the cosmological energies, or forces. The Sumerians
believed "the light in the sky" (Sun and Moon) the Divine Creator (God) and that
the herbs of the earth were connected with the Divine as part of creation. The
early tribes wrote cuneiform hieroglyphics in the clay which, as discovered by
anthropology expeditions, expressed this very early human theosophy.
The later Akkadians, Babylonians, Phonecians and Hebrews would embrace herbal
metaphysical properties, in their religions and mystical practices. The Christ,
Jesus healed a blind man using earth elements and invoking Divine Power (the Q).
Native Americans embellished herbal medicine and herb connection with the Great
Spirits Of The Sky & Earth. Norse Celtic women of the craft would create the alchemy,
formulary used in New Age Mysticism and Wicca.
Herbs are considered by many to be more than natural remedies. They have been
placed significantly as significant components in the Mind-Body-Spirit connection.
