Herschel is in the marketing consultation field. He writes columns for the major advertising trade magazines as well as being the author of several books on direct marketing. His consulting firm has clients who are in the mail order business or runs media infomercials. Needless to say, marketing played a big role in Herschel Gordon Lewis' money making low budget horror flicks of the 60's and 70's. He knew the urban theatre market and what audiences of the gore fare wanted to see: pretty gals and lots of splatter. Other cult/horror enterprises (e.g. Troma, Olympic, Carlson International/Vidimax) based what they did on the formula HGL started. Now, with designer suit and tie, Herschel is in the big league of international marketing.
