At the shooting inside a rented 33rd Street photo studio, the tape engineer (who shall remain nameless) erased two hours of footage that had been shot with celebrity centerfold models who were not available to re-shoot. Add to that a blown head on the Betacam, an actress falling off a ladder and another, scheduled to do a nude scene, breaking out with a skin rash of a type we will leave unmentioned. Still, NYCM went into limited release in 1984. But, the worst was not over, yet. When the Vidimax print catalog mail order company went into hiatus, a warehouse fire destroyed most of the master and intermaster tapes, including NYCM. What you see streamed now is the cult/horror feature pieced together from third and fourth generation VHS tape fragments. Maybe the televangelist montage pissed off someone of power in high places. Nevertheless, here is The New York Centerfold Massacre reconstructed as best it could be by painstaking techs.
