1.08.10 Hey, gang it's a new decade and we've got some really cool things happening here at the MVU. Now, since you've had the interest (thank you) to scroll down this far, you've already noticed the hot movies that are going up and that we found more footage on Genesome (thank heavens a camera guy cleaned out his shed), so I won't go into another spiel here. There's other new stuff we are trying.

I will say more on the soap box about the new MVU monthly newsletter e-zine. It will have some great things in it, off the press releases on new xtreme cult/horror movies from the U.S., Asia and Mexico (no masked wrestler), Manga/Hentai and/or Dolcett art not published in our galleries (get it?) and new true crime stories often with pix that I'll address below. Please, come on folks, sign up for the newsletter because I can't send it to my grandmother. She subscribes to Pulptoons!

The true crimes issue has always drawn fire for glamorizing, and thus inciting criminal behavior. In 1962, for example, a movie called "Dementia 13" was blamed for an axe murder similar to the one in the movie, because the perp himself blamed seeing the movie at a downtown movie grindhouse. (He may have had some of the stale popcorn, too, for that matter). I don't have to tell you the can of worms "Pretty Baby," the Louis Maille portrait of a prohibition era brothel, which starred a nude, tween Brooke Shields opened. Brooke had made a movie in Jersey the year before, "Communion" a/k/a "Alice, Sweet Alice) which was produced by former porner Alfred Sole in which Brooke gets burned alive in a coffin behind a church altar, no one screamed about that, not even the Catholic Church because it was a pretty absurd horror flick. When something attempts to paint a portrait of true to life, which is what good literature and meaningful cinema does, it gets ragged on for every wrong done anywhere in the world.

An LA serial rapist, after arrest and undergoing a court ordered psychiatric analysis. was asked what triggered him to do violent acts upon women. Police found no porn, no detective mags, not even a Playboy mag in his house. The perp told psychs bra ads in Sears catalogs "turned him on." So what shall we do? Ban Sears catalogs? To actually perform vile acts is a wrong decision someone makes no matter what the "trigger." (That was a popular catchphrase in 70's copland, long before John Walsh's "creeps."

Missouri tried to ban "Nightmare on Elm Street" because of what Freddy Kreuger portrayed in the movie. "Elements Of Crime," an 80's horror movie where a girl is realistically thrown out of a glass window, got the censor's cut when a p.o.'d newlywed hubbie in Scotland did the same to his betrothed. Try to find the original version (which is not the one labelled "uncensored." That release just didn't make any further cuts). The fact is, evil doings have gone on since Adam and Eve's supposed son Cain whacked his brother Abel in a jealous streak or Jepithe burned his virgin daughter alive to thank Yahweh for winning the war he started against an Egyptian tribe. There were no movies or detective magazines (okay, bondage magazines) back then.

The MVU holds fast to our right to show a movie or video uncensored the way the director made it, barring any illegal content and your right to view it. We also hold true to publishing a crime story the way it was written, even if it is about an Alarma report about a little girl thrown into an oven or a serial killer slaughtering eight nurses. We do not present these as a glorification of the crime anymore than rotten.com's display of crime photos or ruemorgue.com's fictional killagirl videos. MVU is against horrific crime as much as the CSI guys, but they occur and we have the as much right to dramatize them as they do. If Dr. House down Vicoden as an addiction, or Peter Griffin passes gas in public, Fox is not telling everyone in the world to do it. All strong content websites make this same statement: know fantasy from reality and know right from wrong. Mom, Dad and Big Bird were right. So is the criminal justice system. Unless you are Michael Jackson, Roman Polanski or Sean Penn, the incarceration and probation penalties for crimes against humanity are duly severe.

A final note: we are putting up, for the third time, a new forum based on the subjects of our website. We adopted the "chan" format because it is an open source. We will soon be moving it to Aimoo where you can upload pix and stories and anything legal. Please, don't let what can really be a dynamite forum lay dead with few or no posts. We'll wipe clean the spam so you have all the room in the world. At the moment, 713chan Forum is at GoDaddy as a text only forum, but it will move to open source Aimoo before February. Plz Plz Plz support the forum, PARTICIPATE, support the video comment boards here, too and subscribe to the newsletter. Like the macabrevideounderground.com website itself, it's all FREE so why would you not take advantage of all this good stuff.

Oh yes, final note. It seems that Twisted Art is offline and when you click the banner you get a temporarily out of whack sentence. twstd-art.com is a great site and I am sure whoever runs the show there wan ts it back up as much as you and we do (hey, we like to gawk at the good stuff on other sites, too)! So let's give Twis' a chance to fix whatever is on the fritz (who knows? maybe a cranky hosting service) and be back with us soon.
