ONLINE VIDEO VIEWING & DOWNLOADING TIPS

As with most internet video websites, we use the Adobe Macromedia Shockwave (Flash) Player system. Most web browsers (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Opera) have the plug-ins to play these type videos. If not, the "options" or "tools" tabs will easily guide you into downloading the latest Flash Media Player.

Our internet television websites utilize two types of video streams: our own on the Xoteria.com (Xoteria-TV) server or via Vimeo, an HD capable video streaming service. To watch our videos online, you need a broadband (DSL, Cable, Fiber Optic) connection of 1mbps or higher. Dial-up connections will not play the videos.

Here are some solutions to viewing impairments:

Video will not load (start)
Allow the video twenty or thirty seconds to begin. If it does not, Try refreshing (re-loading) the web page. If there is still no video, 1.) on Xoteria server videos, click the screen. A menu should appear. Deselect "Play," the select "Play" again. 2.) on Vimeo streams, click the arrow on the screen. If the video goes into the "pause" mode, click the "play" arrow again. If the video still does not play and you have a broadband connection, ensure you have Flash (Shockwave) video software.

The video stops and starts, stutters, or flickers
Internet security and anti-virus software (Norton, McAfee, Kapersky, Spybot) sometimes blocks or detains the stream. Xoteria.com is a secure server free of malware and spyware. Only for the time you are watching the video, suspend protection scanning, thwn resume it afterwards.

The sound is different levels one video from the other:
Our video websites play videos from many sources. The only solution is to adjust your sound level for each video. Some audio tracks are surround sound (more recent videos). stereo, synthesized stereo or mono.

Video Downloading Those video productions which we produced and/or own the exclusive rights to are offered for free downloading that you may watch offline on your computer or DVD player. The files are on a file sharing facility independent from our server, but we have selected only the most secure and reliable service providers

The files are .wmv format (Windows Media Video), but are technically identical with the generic .avi format abd will work with most any DVD burner program which converts the file to Mpeg4, the standard DVD format for burning DVD's with the associated IFO file which all DVD software creates that allows the downloaded file to perform as well as store bought DVD's in your home entertainment system or portable player.

In sizing the files for download, we endeavored to strike a balance between quality vs. downloading time. Most of the videos range from 90 to 150 MB (running time, of course, is also a factor). The time it will take to download a video file depends on your connection speed. Typically, a 100MB video file will take about 45 minutes to download at a broadband connection of 1mbps.

Other Factors Affecting Video Streams
Computers and cyberspace may not be human, but have you ever noticed they are, for lack of a better word, "moody." PC's constantly scan and make notes within the software logs, dll file talk to each other, However, your computer may be running in tip top shape (you've cleaned junk files, empty registries and you defragged_, but cybernet may be in a bad "state of mind." Both copper and FIOS are funnels which conduct internet travels. Just bad luck when you purchased a movie download and there's a crowd on your IP travel, or too many people are at the download site and one instance. It's the same for watching a movie stream, even from a major online video provider like CBS, Fox or Netflix. If you are the only one watching the online video, it may go without a glitch. If five hundred people are watching the same program at the same time, you may get "hiccups" or "freeze frames." Major video streaming providers like those listed have not just gigabytes, but tetrabytes of server bandwidth. Xoteria-TV, et all (all channels combined) are only on a 500GB shared server because, well frankly, that's all we can afford at the moment. However, our storage is only about 60% of storage capacity, so we can grow and accommodate the current number of views at one time on demand without overloading the system.

A Few More Tips When you watch a video online, close all other programs. On a secure site such as ours, suspending the anti-virus software helps smooth the flow of a video stream. Always use good quality ethernet, rf, rj (telephone), audio and video cables. Usually, the cable sold at manufacturers like Cables To Go are much higher quality than the free cables that came "with the box." Be sure contacts are secure. All these factors "have a say" in the "mood" of your cyberspace-TV.
